Welcome to our little listing of upcoming games of October 2008. Like mentionned before, Fall is the busiest time of the year for game releases and 2008 is no different.

Keep in mind that release dates are subject to change without warning. As of this writting, the dates mentionned are the ones we were informed of. So without further ado, here we go!

Dead Space (X360-PS3: -- Release date: October 14th 2008): EA is now trying it's hand in the survival horror genre. Thus far, the consensus points towards a mix of "Alien" and "The Thing". The fun initiative in the game is that the protagonist's health will show on the man's backpack thus allowing a simple way to monitor your health without filling the screen with different visuals.

Far Cry 2 (X360-PS3: -- Release date: October 21st 2008): Ubisoft Montreal is back with its acclaimed FPS series. You're now in the middle of a war between two rival gangs in the middle of Africa and have a bounty for a mysterious man known only as "The Jackal".

Saints Row 2 (X360-PS3 -- Release date: October 14th 2008): After being pushed back from its original end of August release for polishing reasons, the return to Stilwater will be even more fun than ever. After being blown up in the original Saints Row, you need to start over and rule with an iron fist as the leader of the Saints. You'll need to start from scratch by deciding....if you want to be a man or a woman. A first in the series which will allow deeper and more crazy customization of your character. With people like Michael Rapapaport and Tera Patrick voicing characters in the game, even Gary Busey is excited about the game!

Wii Music (Wii - Release date: October 20th 2008): After being announced at E3 2005, the game fell into the dark and not being heared of...until E3 2008 where M. Miyamoto and friends made a wonderful orchestra demonstration. The game will work only with the Wiimote and not needing any additional controllers. Simply mimic the moves of the instruments you desire and you'll be on your way to conquer the musical world! You'll be able to choose from various instruments like violin, bass, drums, among others.

Guitar Hero World Tour (PS3-X360-Wii-PS2; October 27th 2008): The Guitar Hero series is back for a second time this year (GH Aerosmith was released back in June) and this time it's bigger than ever. Not only will it include the option to create your own band with a singer and drummer, but with the Studio, you'll be able to jam as a band and create your own songs and upload them for fellow gamers to hear. September's releases....

It's that time of the month again in which we take a look at the games that we consider will be worth your time and money. Keep in mind that release dates are subject to change...

As we all know, September is often the prelude of things to come during the Fall and Holiday season. Of course, we couldn't fit ALL the release, but we'll take a look at some interesting games:

Rock Band 2 (September 14th; X360): You didn't read it wrong. Indeed, Microsoft scored a one month timed exclusivity with the PS3 version hitting in October and the Wii version following suit in November. The odd thing is the Bundle has been delayed into October but as of now, the individual intruments will be made available on September 14th. For this iteration, Harmonix promised that downloaded tracks for Rock Band 1 will be fully compatible in RB2 and RB1's setlist will be transferable into RB2. However, Harmonix has yet to reveal how the transfer process will work. With a huge set list available here , and the promise of compatible songs from download and the first Rock Band, you'll be rocking out for the next decade!

Lego Batman: (PS2-PS3-X360-DS-Wii-PSP - September 23rd): After the success of Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones, the wonderful blocky toys from our childhood are now popping up in Gotham City. Apparently, promised is a Online Co-Op Mode (which was left out of Lego Indiana Jones), you'll be able to run rampant throughout Gotham City as our Bat-Friend and his sidekick. And there's a possibility of being able to create chaos as a villain....

Silent Hill Homecoming (PS3-X360-PC - September 30th): Soldier Alex Sheppard is coming home after some time spent in war. However, some of his family members are missing and his mother has seemingly lost it. Of course, all the weirds happening at the Sheppard's household lead Alex to Silent Hill to get the answers and find his younger brother...

Disgaea DS (NDS - September 23rd): NIS America is releasing this title for a 3rd time! After a successful run on PS2 as Disgaea Hour of Darkness and most niche success as Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness on PSP, they're hoping to catch gamers who have yet to taste this wonderful SRPG. Fresh off the heels of the release of Disgaea 3 on PS3, gamers will again have access to the Netherworld on the go!

Star Wars The Force Unleashed (PS2-PS3-NDS-X360-Wii-PSP - September 16th): Filling the gaps between both trilogies, you'll take control of The Apprentice (who recently popped up in Soul Calibur IV). You'll learn new powers on the way to conquer evil (or good....).

Hell's Kitchen The Video Game (NDS-Wii - September 9th): Have you ever wanted to be yelled at by Chef Ramsey? Well here's your chance! Following the success of the PC version, Ubisoft is bringing this mad chef onto home consoles. You'll need to be good and docile and listen to every advice from this popular chef.

So this ends our quick look at upcoming games from September. Keep in mind, that there are more games coming out and this was simply a quick look at what is on our radar. We hope you enjoyed this little overall look at what's coming out in September. You can always keep checking on dimensiongames.com to know what else is coming out!

In the third chapter in the Disgaea series, you'll take control of Mao, the most honored student at the Evil Academy. An academy like no other where the most lazy and vulgar student get rewarded. Being the son of the Chairman, Mao has never attended a single class nor even opened up his textbooks. He's only driven to overthrow his father and claim title of Overlord!

- Tales of Vesperia (X360 - Release date: August 26th): Finally, the "Tales Of..." series makes its awaited debut on a next gen console. In this new chapter, you'll play as Yuri, a former knight, in a world where people are dependant of a mysterious technology called "Blastia". Our hero will have to choose whether to destroy or control this unknown force.

Highlights from Nintendo's conference

Year after year, Nintendo looks to surprise everyone at E3 with new and surprising technology or simply make everyone go crazy about a new Mario or Zelda game. Was 2008 any different?

To kick off the conference, Nintendo showed off a demo of Shaun White Snowboarding with none other than the man himself: Shaun White. Not only will the game use both Wiimote and Nunchuk controller, but will fully use the Balance Board included with Wii Fit.

Also Iwata briefly mentionned that both Mario and Zelda teams were hard at work to create a new adventure for each character. Of course, no other information was made available at this point.

To the delight of all, Animal Crossing for Wii has now been officialized. Sporting the sub title City Folk, we'll be able to make new friends and decorate our house in an urban environnement.

Nintendo also introduced 2 new accessories: WiiSpeak and WiiMotion. The first new item will actually be a microphone that will allow everyone in the room to speak into. The second new accessory called WiiMotion will allow gamers to move around in 3D simply by connecting an adapter onto the WiiMote. Along with this new gadget, Wii Sports Resort has been announced and will be the first game to fully utilize this new technology. Both of those will come as a bundle in Spring 2009.

On the portable side of things, Nintendo came out of nowhere by announcing Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS. This game will take place in Liberty City and include all the free roaming goodness from previous GTA games. And for the younger audience, Pokemons are back! On November 10th, Pokemon Rangers Shadow of Almia will be made available through retailers. Also, if you enjoyed Guitar Hero On Tour, you'll be happy to know that Nintendo and Activision proudly announced a sequel: Guitar Hero On Tour Decades.

Nintendo will also throw their hat into the virtual musical ring. After annoucing Wii Music a few years back and basically never giving new info, Miyamoto and friends came back strong this year by showing off a demo in which Mario's Father performed on stage. The game will include roughly 50 instruments including drums, piano, saxophone, violin, etc...but unlike any other musical games, instead of requesting timing, you'll simply have to mimic the gestures of, let's say a drummer or pianist and voilĂ ! You'll also be able to play with four of your friends.

We hope you enjoy these little highlights on various conferences. Don't forget that Sony and Microsoft's highlights are still available below this one.

Highlights from Sony's conference

After Microsoft took the gaming world by surprise with the announcement that Final Fantasy XIII will see the light of day on the Xbox360, gamers and media around the world wondered what kind of "knockout" announcement Sony could have up their sleeves. Was anything up to par?

They kicked off the conference with a new Resistance 2 trailer that showcased a new level in the game: Twins Fall, Idaho.

Sony also proudly announced the first PS3 games to have the honor of being Greatest Hits: Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Call of Duty 3, Fight Night, Need for Speed Carbon, Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassin's Creed, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. These games will be soon available for a MSRP of 29.99$.

Not only has Sony showed their focus for PS3 Software in 2008, they will not leave the PS2 behind. With an approximate of 130 games coming out for the previous generation, it shows that the PS2 is still going strong. Titles coming out in 2008 include Yakuza 2, Mercenaries 2, Singstar Pop Vol. 2, EA Sports brand, etc...And to celebrate the arrival of Lego Batman on PS2, Sony will make a limited edition PS2 dedicated to the lego shaped Cape Crusader.

One of the most appreciated surprise was the confirmation of a sequel to Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction. Sub titled Quest for Booty, Ratchet and Clank are coming back to the PS3 only this time in digital format. That's right, the game will only be made available through the PSN at an affordable price of 14.99$ (US) later this year.

And speaking of Insomniac's famous duo, Sony is releasing a new PSP bundle with a silver colored console, Ratchet and Clank Size Matters, National Treasures 2 UMD Movie, a 1 Gig memory stick and a promotional voucher to download the game Echochrome through the PSN. And among the new games announced for PSP, Insomniac's latest franchise is making it's debut on Sony's portable machine: Resistance Retribution should see the light of day in Spring of 2009.

Sony also introduce their "Life with Playstation" philosophy by including options to have access to weather and news through your Playstation 3 following an update which will be made available at the end of the month. And for American gamers, following Sony's press conference, movies were available for download on the PSN. However, a date for the Canadian PSN as yet to be announced.

And to conclude the conference, Sony made official 2 titles: God Of War III and M.A.G. Massive Action Game. We learned of GOW3's official existence through a teaser trailer:

And M.A.G. Massive Action Game promises 256 online players and a squad based combat. However no official release date or timeframe has been revealed.
